Parable of Sparrow and Crocodile
Matthew Moniz
little sparrow said the crocodile can you come help clean the food from my teeth
are you sure you’re not hungry asked the sparrow
I never hunger said the crocodile
so the sparrow landed in the crocodile’s cavern mouth and hopped
from shining tooth to shining tooth to pick them gleaming
this tastes like sparrow said the sparrow
we must be civil said the crocodile
yes said the sparrow from near the crocodile’s throat we must be civil
careful for this moment to not move his jaws and pinch
the sparrow apart the crocodile bellowed from his stomach
have faith said the crocodile pray
